BY JACK LOTT. Current Cal. 458 Win Mag., original cal. was 264 Win Mag. S# L4131. Bbl. 23 1/2" + 2 3/4" ported muzzle brake. Hooded ramp blade front sight w/ Browning U notch rear sight. FN supreme action w/ claw extractor, replacement hinged floorplate & trigger guard. Monte Carlo cheekpiece checkered walnut stock w/ gloss finish & added swivel bases. Stock has factory recoil lug beneath the front receiver ring w/ an added recoil bolt through the wrist. LOP: altered to 14 1/4" over a black ventilated Pachmayr pad & 1/2" of spacers. WEIGHT: 8 lbs, 8.2 oz. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Browning letter dated June 1, 1973. Letter shows that serial number was manufactured in 1960 as a 264 caliber rifle. A second letter dated December 14, 2016 additionally shows that this rifle sold for $122.16 on December 9th, 1960. Invoice number 57516 to Kerr Sports Shop, 9584 Wilshire BLVD., Beverly Hills, CA. Additional information w/ the rifle includes a parts schematic, test target signed by Jack Lott & a Notary Public form from the State of Washington dated April 8th, 2017. A build sheet showing the rifle was built by Jack Lott, technical editor of Guns & Ammo magazine. A cover photo of the March 1976 Petersen's Hunting Magazine w/ copies of articles. Consignor information states the rifle was used to shoot the elephants displayed at the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles along w/ photos and articles pertaining to the elephants taken with this rifle. Also included are numerous photos of African tribesmen & hunts. CONDITION: barrel & action retain 90% lightly worn blue showing scattered handling marks.
